Published June 12, 2026
The 2026 King’s Birthday Honours list celebrates the contributions of more than 30 further education (FE) leaders who have dedicated their careers to advancing education and skills across the United Kingdom. The recognition highlights the essential role that FE colleges and institutions play in equipping young people and adults with the qualifications and capabilities needed for the modern workforce. Former FE commissioner Shelagh Legrave has been appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her exceptional service to further education. Julian Gravatt, widely regarded as an authority on college finance and funding policy, is also amongst those recognised. These honours reflect growing national appreciation for the FE sector’s role in driving social mobility, economic prosperity, and lifelong learning.
