Forest School Pupils Welcome Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service
Published June 1, 2026
Pupils from Dunky's Forest School & Nursery, located at Gulliver's World in Warrington, recently welcomed firefighters from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service for an inspiring educational visit. Set within the nursery's outdoor forest school environment, the visit offered children a hands-on opportunity to engage with local emergency personnel and explore the essential work undertaken to keep communities safe. These formative experiences play a crucial role in early childhood development, supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage framework by helping children make sense of the world around them. Interactions with community helpers such as firefighters foster personal, social and emotional growth whilst introducing fundamental concepts of safety and civic responsibility in an age-appropriate, accessible manner. Partnerships between early years providers and emergency services exemplify the collaborative approaches that strengthen community cohesion and school readiness. By bringing practical learning opportunities directly into nursery settings, local authorities and service providers can spark curiosity, reduce anxiety around emergency situations, and lay important foundations for children's ongoing education and understanding of societal roles.
